Church hosts relief collection

HIGHLAND MILLS — A truck will be collecting items for delivery to Hurricane Sandy victims on Staten Island will be at St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 8 to 10 a.m. to collect donations and take them to those in need.
Organizers said the following items are needed: men’s, women’s and children’s rubber boots, hats, gloves and socks.
Also needed are: blankets, bottled water, any anti-bacterial cleaning products, (i.e. wipes, soap); over the counter medicines such as Tylenol and Advil; diapers, women’s sanitary products, toilet paper, tooth brushes, toothpaste and shaving products.
Organizers also are asking for footed pajamas in all sizes and only food items that can be eaten without the need for electricity, such as Pop Tarts, crackers, healthy snack foods and energy bars.
Cleaning supplies such as brooms, buckets, garbage bags and mops are also needed.
