Candidate Q&A: Alex Melchiorre for Village of Monroe Mayor
The Village of Monroe’s election is March 18. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Village Hall Boardroom, 7 Stage Road, Monroe, N.Y. Two candidates are running for mayor, and four candidates are vying for two seats on the Village Board of Trustees.
Why are you running for mayor?
My name is Alex Melchiorre and I’m introducing myself as the best candidate for mayor of The Village of Monroe. I am a retired police chief from The Village of Monroe. I completed over 40 years of service there. I was employed by two other municipalities within Orange County, New York. I have handled multimillion dollar budgets. I have written policies, procedures, guidelines and rules and regulations. I have written, applied for and received grants and funding. I work with several levels of government to include town, county and state. I have expertise with vehicular traffic and parking control. I am a village resident and observing the fast changes and growth within the village.
I am running for mayor along with Nancy Peifer and Joseph Mancuso who are seeking positions as village board members. Nancy is a Monroe –Woodbury school teacher and president of The Monroe Ambulance Corp. Joseph was a past mayor and director of Smith Clove Park. He has many years of experience with local government.
Both of them are lifelong residents and are energetic. Together we will bring new life and ideas to The Village of Monroe.
