MONROE-Lightning struck a Monroe home Wednesday afternoon, causing minor structural damage. At the tail end of a fast-moving storm that produced torrential rain, there was a huge clap of thunder and bolt of lightning that struck a home on Hilltop Road off Orchard Drive. Mombasha First Assistant Chief Vini Takasali said firefighters found the roof charred from the strike. A smoky haze was discovered in the attic, which firefighters vented. The firefighters used a thermal imaging camera in their search of the property. No one was found; no one was injured. The Harriman Fire Company and Woodbury's Fast Team assisted at the scene.
