Local efforts regarding Hurricane Katrina continue with vigor. Inside this week's Photo News are stories about local collection efforts by St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Monroe Free Library. The Monroe Town Clerk's office also is accepting donations today (Friday, Sept. 16) as part of the "Orange County "Cares" program. In addition, there are a number of listings in the Out and About calendar on pages 4 and 5 of similar upcoming efforts. Meanwhile, county and school officials are preparing to provide a safe haven for as many as 50 evacuees. Story on page 27.
