John Karl III makes his case to be mayor of Monroe
To the editor My name is John M. Karl III and I am seeking the position of mayor of the Village of Monroe. I again want to thank you for your overwhelming support when I was elected as trustee two years ago along with Steve Maneri. As trustees, we tried to move new ideas and correct problems with budget items, contracts and the manner in which the public was treated at meetings, but generally ended up on the losing side of a 3-2 vote to Peifer, Remo and Mancuso. Much more needs to be addressed and accomplished. With your support, as mayor and along with Charles Lesser candidate for trustee, we will bring about the required change for an open government and to streamline the budget process and make department heads not only responsible for their actions and budgets, but also accountable. Charles Lesser is a longtime Lake Street merchant and lifetime village resident with business savvy who will work to continue to keep the downtown businesses informed on issues that benefit all of us. We strongly believe in reviewing the possibility of combining emergency services and also consolidating municipal services - if that will provide long-term benefits which will save village residents tax dollars in the future. We would like to see the “Millpond Eyesore” (skeletal remains of what was to be a movie theater) become a useful resource in the village should the theater project fail. We are not beholden to anyone other than the citizens and taxpayers of the village who will elect us to run an open and honest government to the best of our ability. We will bring not only education but knowledge and earnest desire to build a reliable, stronger, trustworthy and unified village government to all. John M. Karl III Charlie Lesser Monroe
