In honor of Lt. Allen

Greenwood Lake - Hundreds of people spent part of last Saturday afternoon at a fundraiser at the American Legion Post 1443 in Greenwood Lake for the family of First Lt. Lou Allen. Allen and another member of the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division were killed in Iraq in June by a sergeant in Allen's unit. But Allen was more than a statistic in the war. He grew up in Chester and taught science at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo. His widow, Barbara, lives in Milford, Pa., with their four sons: Trevor, 6, Colin, 5, Sean, 3, and Jeremy, 1, Friends and family have set up a scholarship fund to help support the family.
