The winner, Richard Jackson, purchased the winning ticket at the Central Valley Mobil at 124 Route 32 in Central Valley. NYU professor to discuss the 'History of the Hasidic People of Kiryas Joel’ Warwick — Dr. Richard W. Hull, professor of history at New York University and the municipal historian of the Town of Warwick, will present a lecture, “A Village Apart in Orange County: History of the Hasidic People of Kiryas Joel,” on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall Auditorium on Kings Highway. According to a press release announcing the program, Hull wrote: “This lecture on the history of Kiryas Joel and its Hasidic peoples is the first in a series on the history of visionary enclave religious communities in Orange County. The series, sponsored by the Office of Town Historian, will examine specific communities that have consciously chosen to live apart, to segregate themselves from their neighbors in order preserve the integrity of their religious, cultural, and social institutions.” Our Father’s Kitchen to offer discount prescription cards MONROE — Atlanta-based American Consultants Rx is providing free discount prescription cards to Our Father’s Kitchen in Monroe. The donation to the soup kitchen is part of American Consultants Rx’s donation of thousands of cards to non-profit organizations, hospitals, schools and churches nationwide in an effort to assist the uninsured, underinsured, and seniors deal with the high cost of prescription drugs, according to officials. More than 25 million free discount prescription cards were donated to more than 18,000 organizations nationwide since the program’s 2004 inception. The cards will offer discounts of name brand drugs of up to 40 percent off and up to 60 percent off generic drugs. There are no eligibility requirements, no forms to complete and no expiration date, according to officials, and one card will take care of a whole family. The pre-activated cards are good at over 50,000 stores such as from Walgreens, Walmart, Eckerd, Kmart and others. Officials said anyone can use these cards but American Consultants Rx is focusing on those who are uninsured, underinsured, or on Medicare. The ACRX cards are available in Spanish as well.
