‘I want to a return to core Republican values'

To the editor: Many thanks to everyone who voted for me in the town of Monroe District 12 Republican primary. We won. As an unknown, I received more votes than Supervisor Leonard and displaced her husband Ed Leonard for the District 12 open committee seat. Monroe needs a change in leadership. Many of you, my friends and neighbors, have told me that you left the Republican Party because you are unhappy with the current leadership. So am I. That is why I petitioned to represent my district. I want a return to the core Republican values of smaller government, lower taxes, integrity and personal responsibility. Kathy Parrella and Theresa Budich had a combined 1,360 votes in one of the largest primary turnouts in many years. Don Weeks and Peter Martin, the incumbents, had a combined total of 1,568; and 76% of their votes came from KJ, one village in an entire town. Kathy and Theresa didn't loose the primary; KJ won. It's time for a change. While Parella and Budich are not the Republican nominees, they share our values. They are the only candidates that reach out to all political parties in our town. Please vote for them on the Conservative ballot line in November. I thank you again for all your support. Very truly yours, Irene Matiatos, PhD Monroe
