Human rights commission seeks nominations

    GOSHEN — The Orange County Human Rights Commission is asking for awards nominations. Nominations are open to anyone who lives or works in Orange County, as well as businesses, agencies, and organizations located in the county whose members have made a significant contribution to advance human rights, enrich the quality of life, build better relationships among people, or encourage all to participate in community life on an equal basis. For nomination forms call the commission office at 291-2191. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 6. The awards will be presented at the 11th annual human rights award dinner at the Inn at Central Valley on April 26. Dr. Roberto Calderin is the dinner chairman. A breakfast reception for honorees and their nominators will be held in early April. The commission’s primary objectives are fostering mutual respect and understanding among all racial, religious, and nationality groups in the county as well as furthering the understanding of the rights of women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
