Holiday basket items needed for Food Pantry

    MONROE - The Monroe Community Food Pantry is looking for food and monetary donations to keep its shelves stocked for the upcoming months. Although the pantry is open year round, there is particular need this time of year, according to pantry director Geraldine Cirrincione. The pantry is starting to prepare food baskets for the upcoming Thanksgiving and holiday season. Small, frozen turkeys are particularly needed as are non-perishable foods and holiday items. The pantry also accepts ShopRite discount certificates for free turkeys. The Monroe Community Food Pantry is an non-profit organization that provides nutritious food and other staples. It was established to help people in the area get through difficult periods in their lives. No one in need is refused help. Financial contributions may be made by sending checks payable to the Monroe Community Food Pantry, 47 Maple Avenue East, Monroe, N.Y. 10950. The pantry also welcome food donations from individuals, groups and food drives. Food donations can be brought to the Monroe United Methodist Church office Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located at the rear of the church building, the pantry is open the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. To schedule delivery of large quantities of goods or perishable items, call 783-6371.
