Grand opening also a reunion

Monroe - My Salon, which celebrated its grand opening Nov. 15-19, also brought together a group of women who have known each other and worked together for a number of years. “My salon is new but I am not new to the business in Monroe,” said owner Barbara Morrison. “I have great clients and that’s what keeps me here. I’ve also had the privilege to work with a great bunch of girls. You know what they say, ‘You don’t know what you have until you’ve lost it.’” And therein lies the story behind the story about the staff at My Salon. As Morrison puts it: “Lorie Lotito started the business in Harriman under the name Main St. Nails. She owned it for about 10 years. She moved it Route 17M in Monroe. Then Renee Call bought it and renamed it ‘Fingerpaints.’ That’s when we made headlines in The Photo News when the business was destroyed by fire. “After the shop burned down, Renee did not want to rebuild,” Morrison continued. “Renee and I worked for another salon but it never had the atmosphere we had had. “Now I took the plunge in hopes to work in the atmosphere I wanted for me and my clients,” she added, “Now my old friends and coworkers have joined me and we work so well as a team.” My Salon is located at 683 Route 17M in Monroe, across from the ponds, between Monroe Farms and the Gift Box. It specializes in European manicures and pedicures, waxing and gel nails as well as hair care. The telephone number is: 782-2272.
