Monroe - The Mombasha Fire Company and the Monroe Fire Department will host the 90th Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association Parade on Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. With more than 45 fire companies, guests and marching bands expected, Monroe Police have issued the following advisory for next Saturday: • At 12:30 p.m., Still Road will be closed for the staging of the fire departments, bands and marchers. • The parade starts at 2 p.m. and leaves Still Road, makes the left onto 17M, goes to Stage Road and makes a right, then makes the first left onto Millpond Parkway, where it ends at Crane Park. • The parade will be about three-hours long. Millpond Parkway will be closed to traffic for several hours after the parade ends. • People should expect traffic delays, road closures on and around the parade route, and a heavy volume of traffic in the Village of Monroe due to the number of participants and spectators. • Parking will be strictly enforced. Any vehicles illegally parked will be ticketed and towed at the owners expense.
