To the editor: I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a candidate for Village Trustee. My wife Cindi and I are long time residents of Monroe and have raised our two children here for the last 20 years. I, like many of you, have become concerned with several areas that affect our quality of life: The growing tax burden; fiscal responsibility in government; the need for more youth and teen programs; growth and traffic; and the revitalization of our downtown. For these reasons, I am running for Village of Monroe trustee and request your support on March 21. If the Village of Monroe is to prosper, we need a clear vision for the future tied to a realistic financial plan. It is critical that the vision and financial plan become part of the annual budget process so it is discussed and reevaluated annually. These principles are critical to the success of any initiative, private or public. As the Town of Monroe’s accountant and formerly a business planner /product manager for a major international corporation, I understand government finance, the need for fiscal responsibility and the importance of long-term planning. My experience and skills will enable me to serve the residents of the village by working to meet your expectations in planning our future. I feel that the priorities of elected officials should be the same as those of the village residents. Together we can define our vision and begin preparing a plan that will enable us to accomplish our expectations. I would like your support for trustee on March 21 and together we can move our village in a new direction. For more information, please visit www.fergusonformonroe.com. Scott Ferguson Monroe
