Ferguson knows Monroe, knows what it has been and what it can be'
To the editor I write to lend my voice in support of the candidacy of Scott Ferguson for Trustee of the Village of Monroe. Mr. Ferguson is the only candidate who is independent from the special interest groups each competing to control our Village. He is running his campaign on his own, based upon his own merit, background and experience and that appeals to the fears of all the crowding and encroachment upon our community. Scott has a vision, a vision of sound financial planning and utilizing potential that our village has. As accountant for the Town of Monroe, and with the lengthy history of financial analyst, Mr. Ferguson is the only candidate with the knowledge, background, and experience to confront the financial issues that our Village will be confronting in the future. Of all candidates, Scott is the only one who is modest enough to acknowledge the significance and importance of community input. Our input as residence of the village is critical to him in the formation of any vision and plan. As Scott has said, “this is not my vision, it is our vision.” Recognizing the importance of inter-governmental cooperation, he advocates the enhanced communication and cooperation between commissions, department heads, consultants, and elected officials both of the village and of our neighbors, the town and county. Scott advocates fiscal responsibility in protecting our money. Commenting that “the government is the steward of our money, which is in entrusted to use it wisely,” he believes in the importance of establishing and maintaining capital reserves (money set aside for specific purposes) and strict adherence to an adopted budget. As Scott observed, “the Village of Monroe is a 6.3 million dollar business. Our obligation as elected officials is to provide residence with the best value for their money in the services we provide.” Scott is home-grown and presently lives on the site of the farm where he played as a child. Scott knows Monroe, knows what it has been and what it can be. I urge all to get out and vote on March 21, to vote Row B, Scott Ferguson for Village of Monroe Trustee. Steven I. Milligram Monroe
