Family Empowerment Council families celebrate

Goshen More than 400 friends and family members gathered at the Family Empowerment Council's "Saturday in the Park" party on July 9 to celebrate a future where all people with special needs are supported by services that help them live actively and fully, enjoying all this community has to offer. The event was catered by Loughran's of Salisbury Mills, funnel cakes and lemonade was provided by the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus and ice cream was provided by Stewart's Shops. Premium event sponsors were Provident Bank and Dana Distributors. "The people we serve show courage and determination in the pursuit of their goals and dreams as they embrace opportunities and unique choices for their lives," said Executive Director Amy Anderson-Winchell. "It was great to see so many families come out to enjoy this day and celebrate the accomplishments they have made," Anderson-Winchell added. The event was supported by the Occupations Foundation, the fund-raising organization of Family Empowerment Council, Occupations, and New Dynamics Corporation. Proceeds will benefit the programs and services that the council provides to individuals and families in Orange and Sullivan counties.
