WARWICK-If you have a special apple pie recipe from Aunt Betty or Uncle Bob that you've been keeping hidden in that special folder in the kitchen, now is the time to take it out. This year's 16th Annual Applefest, Sunday, Oct. 3, wants you. "There will be two categories for the judges to review: junior (up to age 16) and senior (17 and above)," according to festival coordinator, Betty Garrison. "Each contestant must have their pie at the tent in front of the Kuiken Bros. Lumber exhibition area between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on the day of Applefest," she continued. Judges will complete their evaluation by 1 p.m. and the pies will be sold by the slice afterwards. Each submitted pie must have a 3x5" index card with the following information: Name and telephone no. of the baker/contestant; type of apples used; and ingredients.
