Ellis Island, via Sapphire Elementary

Harriman - The first grade classes at Sapphire Elementary School got a taste of the immigration experience during a culminating lesson on families and heritage on Wednesday, March 30. The students were from the classes of Meghan Farrell, Nicky Mylonas, Michele Keeshan and Christina Buonamano. Each child passed through a number of stations including the arrival by ship at Ellis Island, an eye test and a reading test. Here are a few scenes from the afternoon.
