Elect Karl and Lesser'
To the editor: This past week, Mayor Mancuso would not allow a motion by Trustee Karl, (which was also supported by Trustee Maneri), who tried to annul the legislation passed by the previous board of Peifer, Remo, Mancuso, Earl and Townsend that provided each of them with health benefits for life at our expense. At the previous meeting on Feb.7, Trustee Peifer made a motion to do away with health benefits, only for newly elected and appointed officials beginning April 1, 2006, which Trustees Karl and Maneri voted against. Why? Because it didn’t go far enough, as Mr. Peifer and his aforementioned cohorts would still preserve their health benefits for life. I would presume that, one of the reasons Peifer is running for mayor is, in this writer’s opinion, to protect the means by which the law was passed and to insure that their lifetime health benefits are preserved. Over the years, their tight knit “boys club” has worked against most challengers, until Karl and Maneri won the last election, overwhelmingly, even though their campaign was sought to be undermined by the opponents. Keep change moving. Support Karl and Lesser for a truly honest and open government. Very truly yours, Peter J. Scrobe Monroe
