Elant hosts community exchange Nov. 18
Goshen Elant will host a breakfast program on Nov. 18 as part of its new initiative to educate attendees about Elant’s programs and services and to build relationships in the communities that Elant serves. Called the Elant Community Exchange, the first breakfast was held Oct. 12 at Elant at Newburgh and attracted more than 60 people. The program invites members of the community as well as local businesses into Elant for breakfast and provides an opportunity for attendees to network, learn about Elant’s programs and services and take a tour inside Elant’s community. “Until people actually come through our doors and see that we are a community within a community, they don’t realize what we do, and most importantly who we care for,” Elant President and CEO Todd A. Whitney said in a press release announcing the program. “The breakfast provides the opportunity to understand the role Elant plays in the community, as both a corporate leader and provider of a vital community resource.” Elant was founded in 1985 in Goshen as a 120-bed not-for-profit, community-based nursing home. Elant offers seven locations, as well as in-home and day treatment programs, throughout the region. It offers a broad spectrum of services that provides for the needs of more than 3,500 people. As part of the program, Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, vice president of medical affairs at Elant, provided a lecture about Elant Medical Practice (EMP), which is unique to the Hudson Valley region and one of Elant’s key points of difference. Kaur explained how Elant uses a new hospitalist-model of providing care to its residents where it has dedicated physicians and nurse practitioners - who are Elant employees - on-site daily to see residents, monitor their medical needs and administer care when necessary.
