Dolan states his case to protect Tuxedo from urban sprawl'
To the editor: My name is Peter Dolan and I am running for Town Supervisor. Currently I am chairman of the Tuxedo Zoning Board of Appeals and have served on the board since 2001. My experience has underscored my desire to protect the Town of Tuxedo from the urban sprawl that has plagued surrounding municipalities. I have been married for 17 years. My wife Alison and I have two daughters, Leah, 4, who attends St. Mary’s Pre-School, and Kyla, 6, who attends George Grant Mason Elementary School. I have lived in Table Rock since 1995. I am a graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey, majoring in Political Science. I am an independent, small business owner and have worked since 1992 for Charmer Industries, specializing in wine sales and consultation. If elected, my goal is to protect the Town of Tuxedo from rampant and inappropriate development by initiating the creation of a new master plan. Tuxedo can grow, but we must grow wisely and preserve our town’s character and open spaces. I intend to closely monitor the planning and build-out of Tuxedo Reserve, the massive residential development that will double Tuxedo’s population. My experience on the Zoning Board makes me uniquely qualified to oversee this enormous project. I would like to improve communication between our town, our village and our school. If elected, I will personally serve as liaison. I intend to work with the Tuxedo Recreation Committee to plan a comprehensive recreation center that will meet the needs of families, children, senior citizens and responsible pet owners. Let me bring the Town of Tuxedo into the 21st Century with a functioning, useful Web site. Tuxedo residents deserve a Web site where they can download information and permits. For example, with the touch of a key, a citizen can download a permit to build a deck or a pool or a shed and read all the necessary information pertaining to town business. I will bring “Fresh Eyes” and “New Energy” to the challenges we face in Tuxedo. Respectfully, I ask for your vote. Please visit my Web sight at peterdolanfortuxedo.com. Peter M.
