CV Associates in Harriman awarded $3 million state contract to inspect 1,700 culverts

HARRIMAN - The State Department of Transportation has awarded a $3 million consulting engineering contract to C.V. Associates of Harriman to inspect about 1,700 large culverts for their structural integrity and public safety in 14 counties, including Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess. Fourteen engineers will work on the project for a period of two years. CVA already inspects bridges and signs in Buffalo and Syracuse Divisions of the New York State Thruway Authority as well as bridges in Regions 3 and 7 of the state Transportation Department and overhead signs in other regions of the state. The company also is currently inspecting bridges at West Point Military Academy for the Army Corps of Engineers in association with a consulting engineering firm in Maryland. In addition to bridge inspections, CVA is providing construction inspection services or construction management services on several projects: On call construction management agreement for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey ($4.5 million consulting fee). Construction inspection services for the State Thruway Authority ($500,000 consulting fee). Construction inspection services on the Washburn Lane Project for Rockland County. As a sub-consultant by the state DOT’s for construction inspection services of I-287 Phase 4 in Westchester County ($54 million construction value). Construction inspection services for the NY Route 17 Prospect Mountain project ($154 million construction value). The New York Thruway Authority also assigned CVA as a sub-consultant to the construction inspection services of I-95 over Byram River ($30 million construction value).
