    Dean’s list Andrew Chun of Monroe was one of 761 students named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. To qualify, a student must achieved semester grade point average of at least a 3.60 out of a possible 4.0. Andrew is a member of the college’s Class of 2012. Jenna Newsome of Monroe has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at the College of Saint Rose in Albany. To be eligible, a full-time student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Two students from Monroe were named to the SUNY Fredonia fall 2010 dean’s list: March Adam Braghirol Amelia Rose Wilson Kevin McDonnell of Monroe, a sport management and marketing major, earned a placed on the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University. Two Harriman residents have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at Boston University: Remy Behl Cissy R. Hu Erin M. Higgins of Monroe has been named to the dean’s list with a GPA of 3.5 or better for her first three semesters at Penn State University for her first three semesters with a GPA of 3.5 or better each term. She is a liberal arts major and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta . She graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School in 2009. Lorraine Betancourt of Monroe was named to the president’s list for the fall 2010 semester at the Paramus, N.J., campus of the Berkeley College. The following students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at Berkeley College: Valerie Cerezo of Monroe was named to the Berkeley College Online. Jennifer Cinquemani of Monroe was named to the Berkeley College, Paramus campus. Andrew Schubart and Kristen Schubart, life-long residents of Greenwood Lake who are both currently attending Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, have made the dean’s list for the fall 2010-2011 quarter. To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Graduations Gabrielle Kanterman, a member of the Monroe-Woodbury High School Class of 2007, graduated from SUNY Cortland in December 2010, earning a bachelor of science degree in physical education cum laude with a concentration in adapted physical education. In her junior year, Gabi received the Adapted Physical Education Teacher Candidate of the Year Award. In her senior year, she received the Physical Education Student Teacher of the Year Award. Gabi was a founding sister of the Alpha Sigma Alpha, Gamma Clio chapter sorority. She has received her initial New York State Teaching Certification for grades K- 2 and has been awarded a full grant to attend Texas Woman’s University to pursue her masters degree in adapted physical education. She will attend TWU starting August. Sean Somers of Monroe graduated from Universal Technical Institute on March 4. Sean achieved the honor of President’s Award with a grade point average of 3.80. He is a former student of Monroe-Woodbury, and a 2007 graduate of Mahwah High School. Scholarships and awards Kristen Burch of Monroe has been awarded the Graduate Management Program Women Alum Scholarship at Pace University in New York. Burch is a graduate student majoring in financial management at Pace University’s New York campus. The following students enrolled at Binghamton University, State University of New York, were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year students: Daniel Trebach, Highland Mills. Jeanne-Marie Zonneveld, Monroe. Founded in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma seeks to encourage and reward academic excellence among freshmen in all disciplines. Membership in Phi Eta Sigma at Binghamton University is restricted to those who have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 at the end of any first year, full-time curricular period, provided they have carried a normal academic load acceptable toward a bachelor’s degree and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.
