    Graduations Edith Onua from Highland Mills was one of 20 students to graduate in Pace University’s first class of Doctors of Nursing Practice. The degree, a relatively new doctorate in nursing at offered at Pace University’s College of Health Professions, Lienhard School of Nursing, prepares students for the highest level of clinical practice. Through partnerships with clinical agencies, faculty and students in the DNP Scholarly Clinical Mentored Project use a systematic evidence-based approach to assist in improving clinical practice. All student teams, supervised by faculty, have published scholarly articles on best practices related to the focus of their projects. Anne Summers, a 2007 graduate of Monroe Woodbury High School, has graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College at Columbia University. She also was inducted into the Barnard Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the College. She is the daughter of Margaret and Philip Summers of Monroe. Adriana Vega has graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelors degree in history and minor in political science. She also has been named to the deans list for the spring semester of 2011. She is s a 2006 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School and the daughter of Gladys and George Vega of Monroe. Janet Famularo of Harriman graduated cum laude from SUNY Cortland. She received a bachelor of science in outdoor recreation with a concentration in environmental and cultural interpretation. Janet is interning at the Pocono Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, Pa. Tiffany Bullis of Monroe has graduated from Siena College with a degree in accounting. The following students are among 667 students from School of Visual Arts who received undergraduate degrees at commencement exercises held at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City: Benjamin Kiviat of Monroe, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in film and video. Eddie Lebron of Monroe, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in film and video. Dean’s list Lindsey Mischik of Harriman has earned high honors for the spring semester of the 2010-2011 academic year at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. Students with a 3.5 to 3.69 average are awarded high honors. Matthew Hodges of Highland Mills received the Provost’s Award for Academic Excellence (4.0 GPA) during the spring 2011 semester at SUNY Oneonta. An English major, Matthew will be inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the International Collegiate English Honor Society. A 2010 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, Matthew would like to thank all of his teachers for inspiring him to his current success in college. Robert Gannon, a history major from Monroe, was among those named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at SUNY Potsdam. To qualify, each student musthave earned a GPA of between 3.25 and 3.49 for the semester. Joseph Garnet of Monroe was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Siena College in Loudonville. To qualify, a student’s GPA for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89. Zachary Nussbaum of Highland Mills has been named to second honors on the spring 2011 semester at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, of a maximum of 4.3 (all A+s). Andrew Chun of Monroe has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Each of the students has achieved at least a 3.60 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Awards, programs, honors Katherine Ford of Highland Mills was one of nine students from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., who recently studied performance and design in Prague as part of the university’s Global Opportunities program. Participants went to this eastern European city to explore the juxtaposition of historical and modern art forms. They worked directly with professional artists, visited Europe’s largest movie studio, experienced the music and examined the architectural and design styles that contribute to post-Communist life in this remarkable urban center. Ford is studying theater at Susquehanna, where she will be a junior in the fall. She is a 2009 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury and the daughter of Pamela and Bruce Ford.
