Awards Boston University has announced that Matthew Christopher Connolly has been selected as the recipient of the College Prize for Excellence in English. The faculty selects one student each year for this award to “honor dedication, hard work and achievements at Boston University.” Matthew, son of Matthew and Pamela Connolly of Monroe, will graduate Magna Cum Laude from Boston University on May 22. Vincent Dapolito has received the 2010-11 Outstanding Academic Achievement Award by a junior in the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University. The award was presented at the Quinnipiac University Undergraduate Awards Ceremony on April 30. He graduated from Monroe Woodbury High School in 2008 and is a resident of Harriman. Christa Elise Bolen of Monroe, a 1997 Monroe-Woodbury High School graduate, has become a high school teacher of the deaf at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Conn. She was recently awarded a Bob Costas grant for her outstanding work with using an innovative teaching method in helping deaf high school students to write. Nicholas Mello of Greenwood Lake has received a $1,000 Cumberland Farms Believe and Achieve Scholarship. He will attend State University of New York College.
