CHESTER-When not supporting American interests in Germany by providing medical care for the military or receiving training at various military installations in the United States, Maj. James Heuberger is a Public Health Nurse for Westchester County in White Plains. This Town of Chester resident has been an Army Reservist for 20 years and has just returned from assignment with the 348th General Hospital in Wuerzburg, Germany, after completing a 15 month tour of active duty. While at the 348th General Hospital, Heuberger was chief nurse for the Department of Outlying Health Clinics with oversight of approximately 200 medical personnel. In addition to Germany, Heuberger's past military service included assignments in Ecuador; San Antonio, Texas; Albuquerque, N.M.; Fort Drum, N.Y.; and Fort Mead, Md. His wife Lorraine, a part-time greeter and monitor at the North Main Elementary School in the Village of Monroe, is "very proud" of Heuberger's military service and feels the family has handled his absence well, despite her need to be both mom and dad to their children Kaitlin, 17, Jeremy, 15, and Emily, 11.
