Children's book festival considered Best in the Hudson Valley'
Warwick The editors of Hudson Valley Magazine, in their annual roundup of the region’s finest, chose the Warwick Children’s Book Festival as the “best way to get kids to read.” The announcement in the October 2005 edition wished “kudos to the village’s Albert Wisner Library for helping to make reading fun.” The Sunday festival in September brought out over 1,000 children and their families for a full afternoon of readings, demonstrations, sales and music at Stanley Deming Park. These events were provided by the 50 participating children’s authors and illustrators. A variety of children’s literature was available for purchase, including autographed books. The authors and illustrators donated a portion of their sales to the library’s new building fund. The festival was the vision of local children’s author and illustrator, Judy Pederson. The Village of Warwick and the Albert Wisner Public Library worked for two years to make this vision a reality, and the efforts of many volunteers went into making the day a literary experience for children and their families. The library is located at 2 Colonial Ave. in Warwick. For more information, call 986-1047.
