To the editor: My name is Dan Castricone and I would like to be your councilman. I have lived in the Maplebrook neighborhood of Tuxedo for almost 10 years. My wife Marie and I are very happy to be raising our three children here. Our two oldest children attend Tuxedo Elementary School; our youngest attends St. Mary’s Preschool. I believe I have the kind of experience and commitment to service that makes me qualified for the councilman’s position. I was appointed to the Tuxedo Zoning Board of appeals by both Republican and Democratic town board members. I have worked closely with members of both the Town Board and the Planning Board to revise the current zoning laws. I am a member of the Tuxedo P.T.A., a coach for the Tuxedo T-Shirt League and a new member of the Tuxedo Chamber of Commerce. I graduated from Pace University School of Law and I am licensed to practice Law in New York. I hold multiple securities and insurance licenses and run my own business. I also have many years of management experience and held a position as a securities compliance principal for a Fortune 50 Financial Services company. I feel that Tuxedo is at a crossroads and that the decisions made by the next board will be critical to the future of our town. Competent and experienced oversight of the Tuxedo Reserve project is essential to protect the environment, the small town feel and the historical heritage of Tuxedo. I feel that I am qualified to provide that oversight. The contemplated wasting of our hard earned tax dollars in the former powerhouse must be stopped. The proposed Sterling Forge development as designed should likewise be rejected. I have reached the conclusion that besides being a terrible scar on the land, the project is likely to be a tax drain and have a negative impact on the water quality of our residents and those living downstream from us. Our town faces complex issues including; spending control, recreation center development, school district boundaries, downtown revitalization, ambulance coverage and volunteer recruitment and proposed development within and along our borders. I believe that the right choices for Tuxedo are a full-time supervisor like Bill Lemanski, my running mate Darren Maynard and myself. Please give us an opportunity to provide Tuxedo with a government that works. Dan Castricone Tuxedo
