STERLING FOREST - Boy Scout Troop 340 in Monroe raised more than $3,000 on Sept. 17 and 18 at the Renaissance Faire in Sterling Forest to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina get back on their feet. “We raised a lot more money than I thought we would,” said R.J. Walls, the 16-year-old scout who came up with the idea. “I thank everyone who donated money. Every dollar counts. I just hope this money helps rebuild the lives of the ones affected by Hurricane Katrina.” Walls said that the donations will probably go to Habitat For Humanity, a program in which people build homes for anyone victimized by a disaster.
