Beams makes her case for town clerk
To the editor, I would like to introduce myself: I am Mary Ellen F. Beams. I am a candidate for the Office of Town Clerk for the Town of Monroe. I currently hold the position of Town Clerk as of July 1, 2005, after the retirement of Judy Dise, who was Town of Monroe Town Clerk for 26 years. I had the honor of working alongside Judy as her deputy for two years prior to her retirement. I am a 40-year resident of Monroe; my husband Frank Beams and I have six children. Over the years, I have been active in many organizations, such as American Legion Post #488 Aux., past president of the Lakeside Ladies Aux., past Sacred Heart Parents Board Member and past Pop Warner cheerleading coach. I take great pride in serving the people of Monroe and I am confident that I have the qualifications, experience and dedication to hold this elected position. Some of the duties that I perform as the current Town Clerk are Records Management Officer and Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Town and Village of Monroe. I am also a trained licensing agent for DEC and AG.& Markets. I have been the secretary for the Zoning Board for the past three years and I am currently a member of the New York State Town Clerks Association. This past September, I implemented evening hours for the town clerk’s office to better serve our communities needs. On Sept. 16, in conjunction with the American Legion Post #488, I led the Town of Monroe in the Orange County Cares Day supporting the Katrina Relief Effort. My friends, neighbors and residents of Monroe, please voice your support for me by coming out on Nov. 8 to your local polling place and voting Row A for the Town of Monroe Town Clerk. Mary Ellen F.
