Harriman - Lindsay Barrett George, who is known for writing and illustrating for children that teach them about nature and animals, visited with students at Sapphire Elementary School in Harriman on April 12 and 13, thanks to funding from the PTA and the NYS Arts in Education Grant. The author talked about where she got ideas for her stories and how many times she had to rewrite the stories. She showed the students her original artwork which was used for the books she published. Everyone was surprised to see that the pictures were much bigger than her books. She also explained that it took about two years from the rough draft to the final copy of a book. She had the students draw and make a story in four panels. Two of the books were “Inside Mouse, Outside Mouse” and “Maggie’s Ball.”
