West Point Glee Club performs in Tuxedo Tuxedo Park — The West Point Glee Club performed Saturday evening at Tuxedo Park School, a two-hour concert sponsored by the Tuxedo Performing Arts Group that opened with the school’s Upper School Glee Club sharing the stage with the cadets. Constance Chase led the impressive West Point cadets through a wide range of music: from American folk songs to Irish and African music to the spiritual, “Battle of Jericho.” In one moving musical segment, members of the audience who served in the Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Air Force were asked to stand when during the performance of the “Armed Forces Medley.” The final song, “the Battle Hymn of the Republic,” included participation from the combined efforts of the Nina Allbert-led Upper School Glee, Middle School Gleeful, faculty and Head of School, Kathleen McNamara, who recently joined the Tuxedo Performing Arts Group as vice president. Meanwhile, on Dec. 7, Tuxedo Park School will host an open house where Admissions Director Kristen Heard will offer tours and explain how events such as the West Point concert help enable the school to make good on its motto: “Small School. Big Difference.” Heard can be reached at 845-351-4737.
