A way to help Jackie (Paffenbarger) Oddie
To the editor: The First Presbyterian Church of Monroe has received word regarding Jackie (Paffenbarger) Oddie’s battle with cancer and the plans to connect she and her family with the Making Memories Foundation so that Jackie, her husband and her children can go one a trip while she is still able to travel. Jackie’s doctor has not only told her she is terminal but has also indicated that she has a limited amount of time left. The Presbyterian Church has been receiving funds for Jackie from within the congregation. But it occurred to us that since Jackie’s family is so widely known in the area, many people in the community might also like to participate in this effort to give Jackie and her family some happy memories while she is able to travel with them. If you would like to help, you may send a check to the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe at 142 Stage Road, Monroe, N.Y. 10950. The check may be made out to: “First Presbyterian Church “ or to Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.” Making Memories is a non-profit and all gifts are tax deductible. Information about the organization can be found on its Web site at www.makingmemories.org. In either case earmark the check for Jackie Oddie in the lower left area of the check. Checks need to be received at First Presbyterian by Feb. 25 so we can meet the March 1 deadline. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Presbyterian Church at 783-1632.
