A first step in unifying the town

To the editor: Recently, the Monroe Town Board invited all those interested in filling Laurie Currier Wood’s council seat to submit letters of interest, with the promise that the Board would fairly consider all applicants. The Monroe Democratic Committee has taken that promise seriously. Three Democrats have thrown their hats into the ring: Harley Doles, Lorraine Loening and Mary Bingham. We commend these citizens for their commitment to the Monroe Community and we encourage the Town Board to select one of these individuals to fill the open Town Board position. Appointing a Democrat can be a first step toward unifying a town that has been divided for too long. Thank you. Ann Krawet and Dan Burke Co-chairs of the Monroe Democratic Committee
