A busy weekend for gymnasts

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Jessica Furman, a Monroe-Woodbury High School graduate from Monroe, finished third in the all-around on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the gymnastics meet at Temple University, helping the Ursinus College Bears to their highest team score of the season, 174.725. Furman posted a 36.300 in the all-around, earning her highest score of the day on the beam with a 9.425, for sixth place. She also scored a 9.300 on the floor and 9.175 on the vault. On Sunday, Jan. 29, 1996 Olympic Gold medalist Shannon Miller visited Ursinus College. Several of the gymnasts, including Furman, spent most of the day in the gym with Miller, filming a segment for a gymnastics show that will appear on CN8, a Pennsylvania television station. Furman and the Bears will travel to Brockport on Saturday, Feb. 4, for the first meeting of these two Division 3 teams.
