Steven “Steve” J. Lopez of Highland Mills entered into eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 60 years old.

The son of Teresa Maria Ramos-Lewis of Wallkill, Steve was born on May 30, 1961, in Brooklyn.

Steve retired as a supervisor for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection in Flushing.

He was an active member of the Meadow Hill Reformed Church and Woodbury Parks Department.

Steve honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

His family’s statement reads: “Steve lit up any room he walked into; with his infectious smile and comical sense of humor. He lived to make people smile and laugh. Ask anyone who met him! Heaven has gained a true angel, thus making the world that much smaller. He will be greatly missed.”

In addition to his mother and step-father, Earl Lewis, Steve is survived by his loving wife: Kelly A. (McKevitt) Lopez at home; his daughters: Danielle M. Lopez and her husband Michael Calderone of Rockville Centre and Britney N. Lopez of Harriman; his new grandson: Bryce Calderone; his brother: Andrew Serrano and his wife Rosie of the Bronx; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Kathy and Kevin McKevitt; his brothers-in-law: Dennis McKevitt and his fiancé Melissa of Congers and Steven McKevitt of Highland Mills; and his four legged best friends: Riley and Titten; as well as extended family and many loving friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Meadow Hill Reformed Church, 211 Fletcher Drive North, Newburgh. Pastor Irving Rivera will officiate.

Cremation will follow at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
