Robert Joseph McKeown, a 50-year resident of Monroe, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2021. He was 83 years old.
The son of Ernest and Josephine McKeown, Robert was born in the Bronx. He retired as a captain with the New York City Fire Department after a career of 33 years.
Robert is survived by his wife Irene Redmond McKeown. He is also survived by his children: Robert and his wife Jennifer of Ramsey, N.J., Kerry McKeown of Riverdale, Joseph of Monroe, Christopher McKeown of Monroe, Michael and his wife Shana of Charlotte, N.C., MaryLynn McKeown of Bronxville, Laura O’Donnell of Connecticut and Theresa Doerler of Long Island; his seven grandchildren: Meghan McKeown, Thomas McKeown, Lindsay McKeown, Catriona McKeown, Lilliana McKeown, Ryan McKeown and Luke McKeown.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Flynn Funeral and Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. located at 139 Stage Road in Monroe.
The rosary will be recited at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Robert’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Novitiate located at 1275 Heart’s Content Road in Round Top, N.Y. 12473.
Burial will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the same grounds.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested Masses from St. Joseph’s Novitiate.
