Raymond L. Bennett
Raymond L. Bennett of Washingtonville passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 82 and had been a resident of the area for eight years.
The son of Ben and Anna Haffner Bennett, he was born March 11, 1930, in Brooklyn.
Raymond was a retired bus mechanic for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transportation Operating Authority (MaBSTOA) in New York City.
Ray married the love of his life at the age of 18. This July they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. He was the zig to her zag.
Ray was a friendly, sweet, generous man who would speak to anyone who would listen. By the time the conversation ended, he knew the persons life story. He was always waving his hand to people he didnt know, and most times they waved back.
Ray loved the ocean. Fishing was his favorite pastime, always waiting for the big one that got away. Love Creek was a special place he shared with family. He loved music, but couldnt carry a note. Everyone that knew him will forever hold a place in their hearts. We will miss you.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian A. Costa Bennett of Washingtonville; son Joseph Bennett and his wife Marilyn of Waxhaw, N.C., daughter Joy Consalvo and her husband Charles of Washingtonville; and four grandchildren: Charlie, Anthony, Tommy and Stephanie.
