Norman J. Linton

    Norman J. Linton passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was 83 and a lifelong resident of Warwick.

    Born Feb. 6, 1929 in Warwick, he was the son of Allan and Lenora (Keegan) Linton.

    He was married to the late Irene E. (Weeden) Linton.

    Mr. Linton served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post #214, Warwick.

    He was a foreman with Orange & Rockland Utilities, Monroe prior to retiring. He was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church and a former member of Goshen Gremlin Radio Control Club.

    For those who had the opportunity to meet him, they would have shared a smile and a laugh, almost instantly.

    He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Oates and her husband William of Warwick; son James Linton and his wife Carole of Warwick; four grandchildren: Jennifer Heinen, Kelly Stroppel, Sara Humphrey and Stephanie Woodruff; six great-grandchildren: Joseph, Jacob, Jillian, Aiden, Lucas and Adelia; two brothers Stan Linton of Warwick and Donald Linton of Summitville; four step-grandchildren: Carol Ann, Billie Marie, Willy and Tammy.

    He was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth and Elwood and a sister, Helen Barlow.

    Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Legion Post #214, 71 Forester Ave., Warwick, NY 10990.
