Michael P. Lennon of Goshen passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 83 and had been a resident of the area for 55 years.

The son of Johanna Gilnaugh Lennon and Michael Lennon, he was born March 29, 1931, in New York City.

Mike was a retired FDNY Battalion Chief for the 25th & 13th Battalion in New York City.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Korean War.

He was founding member of the Monroe-Chester Rod & Gun Club, member of FDNY Emerald Society, member of FDNY Holy Name Society and member of the Orange FDNY Retirees.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan M. Beardsworth Lennon of Goshen; his sons, Michael and his wife Evelyn of Monroe, Christopher and his wife Kathleen of Northport, Timothy and his wife Madeline of Montgomery and Robert and his wife Susan of Monroe; his daughter Joanne Krause and her husband Dennis of Hillsdale, N.J.; his brothers Thomas of Paramus, N.J., Hugh of Durham and Patrick of Fort Pierce, Fla.; along with his 12 grandchildren.

His brother William predeceased him.

Mike was a loving husband, a guiding and caring father and a beloved Pop-pop. He loved a good game of golf, vacations with his family and the beauty of nature and flowers. He was an avid hunter and marksman. He was loved and respected by all - family, friends, colleagues and fellow firefighters.

He will be greatly missed.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 23 at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe.

Interment followed in the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
