Mary F. Walsh

Mary Florence Walsh, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at her home in Monroe. She was 90 years old.
Mary was the widow of Dr. Raymond James Walsh, who passed away in 2010.
The daughter of Charles Reagan and Eliza Jewell Hembroff Reagan, Mary was born May 7, 1925, in Valparaiso, Indiana.
She graduated from Marquette University with a chemistry degree and began her career with Sterling Drugs in Rensselaer.
Later she trained as a teacher and embarked on a 40-year career teaching science with the U.S. Department of Defense Schools in North Africa and Europe.
Dedicating her life to learning, she never stopped her own pursuit of knowledge, transferring her passion to the generations of students she taught.
She is survived by her sister, Dr. Lenora C. Semrad of Oakland, California; her children Timothy C. Walsh of New York City, Mollie S. Walsh-Stroh of Monroe and David I. Walsh of New York City; her grandchildren: Christopher, Teague, Liam, Ailill and Ezekiel; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her son Patrick J. Walsh, her brothers Thomas J. and Charles Reagan and her sister Ellen L. Sviland.
Requiescat in pacem.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Chapel of the Sacred Heart, 151 Stage Road, Monroe.
Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
