Manuel G. Lopez

    Manuel G. Lopez of Highland Falls passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Northern Riverview Health Care Center in Haverstraw. Manuel was 93 years old and had been a resident of the area for 47 years.

    The son of Alfred and Carmen Gonzales Lopez, he was born May 30, 1919, in Puerto Rico.

    Manuel was a retired sous chef with the Hotel Thayer at West Point and a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II.

    Survivors include his wife, Carmen D. Albino Lopez of Highland Falls; his daughters: Zulma Melvin of New Windsor and Rosa Lopez of New Windsor; his brother Jose Muino of the State of Florida; his sisters Anna Martinez of Highland Falls and Elba Espinal of Philadelphia; his 5 grandchildren: Pedro Rivera, Barbara Rivera, Marta Abreu, Yolanda Abreu and Ricardo Santiago; eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his daughters Isuara Lopez and Lillian Lopez.

    Visitation will be held from 3-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls.

    A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls, with the Rev. Jack Arlotta officiating.

    Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.
