Kenneth J. Sutherland Sr.

    Kenneth J. Sutherland Sr. of Highland Mills and former longtime Rockland County resident passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. He was 55 and had been a resident of the area for eight years.

    The son of James E. and Priscilla N. Willse Sutherland, he was born Nov. 15, 1956, in Queens, N.Y.

    Kenneth was a graduate of Tappan Zee High School, attended the University of Miami and later earned an agronomy degree from Rutgers University.

    After years in the golf business, he became a driver for West Point Tours where he enjoyed all the wonderful children and people he met. He was a huge baseball fan and loved all games both professional and academic. He had a great sense of humor and adored his children.

    He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend Nancy J. Scanlon Sutherland of Highland Mills as well as his sons Kenneth J. Sutherland Jr. of Troy and Christopher J. (CJ) Sutherland of Highland Mills.

    Kenneth was predeceased by his brother James Sutherland.

    Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory at Middle Hope.
