Joseph A. Volpe

    Joseph A. (Cakes) Volpe of Monroe, a lithographer for Bowne Company of Spring Valley for 25 years, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in upstate Johnson City as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was 57 years of age and had been a resident of the area for 30 years.

    The son of Anthony and Mary Ann Volpe, he was born in Brooklyn.

    Joe was a member of the Garden State Motorcycle Association, American Motorcycle Association, Rock Tavern Snow Mobile Association and Sacandaga Snow Mobile Club. He also was active in the Boy Scouts of America both as a scout and then as a leader.

    He was pre-deceased by his father Anthony F. Volpe.

    He is survived by his mother Mary Ann Volpe of Monroe, his son Adam Volpe of Chester, and his daughter Vanessa Volpe and her fiancé John Rivera of Albany.

    Joe is also survived by his siblings James Volpe and his wife Claire, Anthony Volpe and his wife Ann Marie, Catherine Volpe-Wasserman and her husband Ira, Maria Volpe-Endrizzi and her husband Michael and Andrea Volpe. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, his great niece and nephew and many cousin and friends also survive him.

    Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 6, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 139 Stage Road, Monroe.

    A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Anastasia Parish Church, 21 North Main St., Harriman, with the Rev. Michael F. Keane officiating.

    A private cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc. in Chester.
