Joan D. Fleming
Joan D. Fleming of Monroe passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. She was 75 and had been a resident of the area for 34 years.
Daughter of William and Marie Flanagan Hogan, she was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Staten Island.
Joan was the widow of Charles W. Fleming.
A statement from her daughter reads: Joan was a devoted mother and wife, beloved sister and dear friend. She was a loving, caring woman who touched so many lives, always thought of others before herself, and brought smiles and laughter to those who were fortunate enough to have known her. And for me, her daughter, she was my best friend, my rock, my first and greatest love. Her beauty was inside and out and she radiated every single day of her life. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter Melissa Fleming and her fiance Jed A. Smith of Monroe; her son Raymond Fleming of Westtown; her brother Robert Hogan of Staten Island; and her sister Florence Hogan-Bostwick of Staten Island.
Joan was predeceased by her brothers William and George Hogan, Thomas Franklin Hogan, Raymond Hogan and her sisters Dorothy Hogan, Helen H. Dolcimascolo and Beatrice Post.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe.
Interment will follow in Cemetery of The Highlands in Highland Mills.
