Jane Agnes (Longwell) Space, a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, after a four-year battle with cancer. She was 89 years old.

Born in Middletown on July 17, 1932, she was the daughter of Dr. John B. and Agnes (nee Ficke) Longwell.

Jane worked as an Avon Lady, going door-to-door in those days selling cosmetics. She was a past member of the Warwick Post 214 American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was a former fundraiser for the American Heart Association. As a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church, she volunteered many hours for the St. Stephen-St. Edward School. She was an active member of the Seward Seniors. She enjoyed meeting new people and talking with them. Much of the reason she loved Avon and later her senior trips, was because of the people she met through them.

Jane is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth; daughters Maureen J. Space of Warwick and Marilyn A. Space of Middletown; grandchildren Douglas Space of Warwick and Agnes Smith and her husband Chris of Liberty and five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joey, Lucas, Gianna and Harper.

Visitation was held on Dec. 16 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 17 at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.

Interment followed the Mass in Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home. To send an online condolence, visit www.lsvpmemorialhome.com.
