    James J. O’Connor of Washingtonville passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 80 years old.
    The son of John and Bridget Harley O’Connor, he was born April 19, 1938, in the New Brighton Section of Staten Island.
    James was predeceased by his wife Olivia C. Farrell O’Connor.
    James was a court officer for New York State Supreme Courts; he had many assignments during his career, but finished his career in New City.
    He was a former member of the A.O.H.
    He graduated Curtis High School on Staten Island in 1955 where he was a member of the Glee Club. He enjoyed acting in various theater groups in Staten Island.
    He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959.
    Survivors include his daughter, Caroline Petit of Washingtonville; his brother, Patrick O’Connor of Staten Island; four grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Zachary, Ava and Chase; and one great grandchild, Isaac.
    James was predeceased by his brothers Edward and John O’Connor and his granddaughter, Alana.
    Visitation and services were held Jan. 15 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
    Cremation followed at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
