Gerard “Jerry” W. Sherman of Monroe passed away on Friday Nov. 26, 2021, at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 85 years old.

The son of Joseph and Anna Flynn Sherman, he was born on Feb. 25, 1936, in New York City, and grew up in Inwood section of Manhattan.

Jerry was a truck driver for Teamster Local 282 in Hyde Park and Local 807 in Long Island City.

Jerry was a very active member within his community. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and choir, 3rd Degree Member of Knights of Columbus Council #2079, a member of Holy Name Society, emcee for the corned beef dinners, honorary member of American Legion Post 1573 in Harriman, leader of Martin and Sherman, Sing Song Boys, Renditions, and Moondance and Jerry’s catering.

Survivors include his loving wife, Edna M. Sherman at home, his children: Patrick Sherman and his wife Barbara of Pine Bush, Stephen Sherman and his wife Debbie of Brooklyn, Mary Sherman of Ellenville and Susan Davidson and her husband Mark of Johns Creek, Georgia; grandchildren: Jessica, Emerson, Samantha, Noelle, Sasha, Emily, Zhon, Hannah, Joseph and Harrison; and six great grandchildren.

Jerry was predeceased by his son Andrew Sherman and his two beloved grandchildren: Ryan and Liko.

Visitation was held Dec. 1 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

A Funeral Mass was held Dec. 2 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe.

Interment followed in St. Anastasia Cemetery.
