Genevieve Herrlein

Genevieve Herrlein of Warwick passed away on April 29, 2021, after a brief illness at Kaplan Hospice House in Newburgh. She was 79 years old.

Born in Queens on Nov. 8, 1941, she was the daughter of Dorothy Helen (Ruth) and Daniel Sullivan. She was adopted and raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Dominic Pirone.

Genevieve was also the granddaughter of the legendary baseball great, Babe Ruth.

Genevieve was married to John A. Herrlein and together they owned and ran Lloyd’s Liquors in Middletown.

After retirement, Genevieve was active in the Pine Island Senior Citizens Group.

She was very proud of her family and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John; daughter, Elizabeth Higgins and her husband David of Goshen; son Christopher Herrlein and his wife Krista of Millis, Mass.; and five grandchildren: Katie Dwyer, Sara and John Higgins and Marissa and Gabriella Herrlein; sisters Donna Analovitch of Texas and Linda Tosetti of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Ellen Hourigan, Richard Pirone and Daniel Pirone.

The family received friends on May 3 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 4 at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.

Interment followed the mass in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen.
