Francis A. Gaynor

Francis A. Gaynor of Warwick passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Jan. 18, 2023, following his courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma resulting from his 9/11 service. He was 50 years old.

Born in Queens on Dec. 11, 1972, he was the son of Dennis and Trudy Gaynor.

Frank was an active duty police officer with the NYPD. He was a first responder at the 9/11 attack and during the time following as part of the rescue and recovery efforts.

He volunteered his time with the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout himself, loving all the characteristics that scouting helps to reinforce in young people.

Francis was an avid historian and collector of many things including NYPD, Scouts and military historical memorabilia.

Frank was a parishioner at St. Stephen RC Church.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Lori Gaynor; daughters Theresa Van Keuren of Montgomery and Melanie “Mel” Gaynor of Warwick; son Sean Gaynor of Warwick; grandchildren Jackson and Kayla Van Keuren; parents Dennis and Trudy of Forest Hills; and brother Dennis F. Gaynor Jr., also of Forest Hills.

The family received friends on Jan. 23 at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 24t at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery, 50 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
