Emilia Anna Richichi

    Emilia Anna Richichi passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 9, 2012, at her home in McLean, Va., at the age of 61.

    Daughter of Emma and Eugene Richichi, she was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., and raised in Brooklyn.

    Emilia was employed by Booz, Allen & Hamilton of McLean, Va. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from SUNY Stony Brook in 1972, her master of science degree in environmental science, from Drexel University College of Engineering in 1979 and her doctorate from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health in 1988. She also attended Duke University in 1989 for her post doctorate studies in public policy and microeconomics.

    She is survived by her sister Patricia Galante and her husband Stephen Galante of Somers, her brother Eugene Richichi and his wife Camille Richichi of Newburgh, her brother John Richichi and his companion Valerie Weissinger Brucato of Middletown, several nieces, nephews, grandniece and grandnephews.

    There will be no visitation. A funeral Mass was celebrated June 18 at St. Anastasia Shrine Church in Harriman. Interment followed in St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Johns Hopkins Hospital, Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 100 North Charles St. - Suite 436, Baltimore, Maryland 21201, to benefit the work of Dr. Brett Morrison.
